Am I dim? I need help setting up a private email group please?

I'm trying to set up a private email group for an organisation of which I'm a member. But when I go to Yahoo groups, it asks me to choose a relevant category, and a title for the group. It then says the title will appear in search engines. But I don't want the group to be a public one. I just want to be able to exchange private emails. What am I doing wrong?

Yahoo groups are public. Get a copy of Outlook Express if you don't have it already. You can access Yahoo mail, gmail and the email of most ISP's using POP3 - using Outlook Express. you then put all your email addresses in a group in Outlook Express and you then send an email to the group. I have that for my Yahoo group. So I can email them via the group email or just using Outlook Express. I used to do a newsletter - and did it in the same way. If you want to send jokes or whatever to all your friends - create a group in Outlook Express and then just send to them all. You can also click - select recipients and just click the recipients you want to send to. This is fast - and you can send blind copies of virus warnings or a good joke to all of your friends without telling them all each others email addresses and respecting their privacy!
Reply:You could keep your group "private" by not having it listed in the Yahoo! directories.

You would need to logon to your Yahoo! group using your browser and using the following options

Membership -%26gt; Group Settings -%26gt; Description %26amp; Appearance -%26gt; Description (Edit).

Choose "Not listed in directory" for Listing type and save changes.

Also, you would want to make the messages accessible only for members.

To do this, use

Management -%26gt; Group Settings -%26gt; Messages -%26gt; Posting and Archives (Edit)

and setup the group as per your requirements.
Reply:All you have to do wile setting up your group is this. Do not put in public directory. It should ask you if you want it public. No search engine will ever find you. For catagory that is your call. Is it Religion? Hobbies ? Cultures? Then a title is secret so public doesn`t know. How bout Ala-kazam/ CyberMe/ SteepleTowers/
