Yes you can. Here is more info about it:





"Join the mailing list only:


Yahoo! Groups recommends that you join a group via the group鈥檚 page. But if you want, you can simply sign up for the mailing list for the group. When you鈥檙e only on the mailing list, you don鈥檛 get access to all the group's web features (Photos, Files, Links, Polls, Calendar.)"

Yes! For most groups, you can send a blank e-mail to [groupname]-subscribe @ yahoogroups.com Replace [groupname] with the name of the group you want to subscribe to.





So for example, if you wanted to subscribe to a group named YahooAnswers*, you would type


YahooAnswers-subscribe @ yahoogroups.com

Be warned if you subscribe by e-mail only however, that you may not get messages if yahoo decides your e-mail is bouncing for whatever reason.
