Hey guys.Can any experienced person here help me how to write an email to the head of a research group?

This is for the purposes of a research elective I wanna do, but I can't make up my mind about how to write the email.I mean, I know it should be formal and everything, but should it go like,"I want to get involved in the research work you're doing"Imean, how do I go about it???

Hey guys.Can any experienced person here help me how to write an email to the head of a research group?
As an e-mail it doesn't have to be necessarily too formal. Keep it real. You just need to convey your genuine interest in the subject and a respect for the research and the people involved. For example,

Dear Dr. SoAndSo,

Your course on SuchAndSuch grabbed my attention and caused me to reconsider my curriculum %26lt;or career, or course electives%26gt; at this point in my studies. Being able to say that I participated and contributed to your research project(s) %26lt;or specific work involved... if you know...is better%26gt; is an accomplishment that would be very meaningful to me %26lt;or other feelings...make me feel proud, would be challenging etc.%26gt;.

%26lt;insert anything else you feel is relevant to you%26gt;.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information.

Thank you very much for your attention, and hope that your day is going well %26lt;or some other parting greeting you feel comfortable with%26gt;

Best Regards,

Your full name
